Belly Bowls

Due to Covid-19, I’m currently making belly bowls from a plaster mold.

I look forward to making them in person again in the future.

Using the pregnant belly as a mold, a slab or thin sheet of clay is stretched over a pregnant belly to create an organic bowl form. Each belly bowl is customized from shape to colors, with an inscription of the baby’s name and date of birth on the bottom of the bowl. The bowls are made toward the end of the pregnancy, to create a commemorative yet functional piece.
